ACCOMPLISHMENTS
I am proud that in my first term, I passed 6 new laws that accomplished the following:
Honored Kristin Jacobs’ environmental leadership
Helped address mental health and substance abuse [amended into another bill]
Bolstered school safety
Protected pedestrians and bicyclists
Brought meaningful police reform [amended into another bill]
Improved access to unemployment benefits [amended into another bill]
Budget funding highlights for our area include:
$149,537 for the David Posnack Jewish Community Center – Senior Kosher Meals Program
$1,028,760 for the 10th Street project from the Sawgrass to 95 to purchase right-of-way land
$20 million for the Mental Health Assistance Allocation, which increases the Mental Health Assistance Allocation for a total amount of $120 Million
Maintained the Safe Schools Allocation at $180 million
$3 million to expand the states 211 crisis network
During a Special Session dedicated solely to approving the Seminole Compact will bring in a guaranteed $500 million each of the first five years and more than $6 billion by 2030. Coconut Creek, Parkland, Margate, Coral Springs, and Broward will all receive funding from this agreement.
